“With a bit of luck there’ll be no more dreams”

Inspired by James G. Ballard’s The Drowned World, I’m exploring everyday places, objects that inhabit them and the environments that surround them. By displaying daily routines that happen on the territory of an island in which I’ve spent a limited amount of time, I direct our attention toward the vegetation, the picturesque sceneries and the narratives that are soon to be lost. Also, through painting, I aim to preserve and share memories of events that, once lived, just pass.

In 2021 for the solo show of Lidija Delić at the Eugster Gallery in Belgrade, the curator Natalija Paunić finished her text with the words: “With a bit of luck there’ll be no more dreams.” Five large-scale diptychs were on display there. Together with Lidija, we selected three of them for the exhibition at the ICA-Sofia Gallery. Also, an older and significantly smaller work, which will greet the visitors at the entrance. A curtain without a view.
